I think that single-sex education is underestimated by people without experiences in this kind of schools. Talking from my experience, I studied on a mixed school during 10 years but in 8th grade my parents registered me in La Presentación. I was so scared and I thought that all girls were lesbians there but it was just a lie. If you ask someone that study in a single-sex school about the topic, they will say "it's normal". Anybody suffer in those schools. Obviously there are pros and contras, for example, is true that at single-sex schools there is more trust but a contra could be that when those boys or girls meet people of the opposite sex, they feel confused and weird because they have been in a little bubble during all their lives. However, mixed schools have pros and contras too. It's true that when you're in the high school, is almost certain that the opposite gender will be a distraction for you but when you go to an university, you will feel more security because you're adapted to be with boys and girls.
But there is one thing that surprise me everyday and I could check it when I studied on a single-sex school and is that girls or boys developt easily all their abilities when they are with people of their own sex. You can think that is lie but no, boys don't do a lot of things because they can look so feminine and it happens with girls too. When there is just one gender in the school, children and teens don't find any obstacle for doing what they want. So, I accept both kinds of education but I prefer single-sex schools.
hello, i am nicolas and i will talk about the kinds of schools, mixed school and single-sex schools.
i am in a mixed school but , i could live two experiences , i am not against single sex school, but i would not enter again. the differences between mixed and single sex are absolutly big , for example in a mixed school you can enjoy and share with your women and men partners, also, you can know another friends and specificly you have the chance to take some points of view in classes too.
but there are some disadvantages , like , in a mixed school you need to have another behavior , because with the opposite sex is a different thing if you come from a single sex school.
Thanks.
Well i think mixed shcools are a great oportunity, because it helps the children seeing how the real world is, also you can share with such different ideologies and it collabortes in a comprehenive education.
In these schools you learn how to interact with the opposite gender's child and it's very interesting how it works in the real life, maybe in single sex schools you cannot have any contact with the other gender's child. In mixed school is a little bit easier to teach sexual education, because there are the both sides of the coin, but in single sex schools you have to go deeper in these topics.
In my opinion both kind of school are valid, the ting we have to see is the necessity of the child.

I've always attended a mixed school so im unable to make a fair judgement because that wouldn't be objective. In the other hand my sister's case could be really helpful here. She went to a mixed kindergarten, attended a single- sex school and when she was a third grader she asked my parents if she could be transfered to my school, a mixed school.she often says that being surronunded by girls its hard because everything's a competition, its all about appearances, which girl has the best purse, make up, hair and even boyfriend. "Girls are mean when they feel intimidated by you, and gossip it's their best revenge". She says
I think there is no need to be apart, cause in real life you won't be. The real world is a world where women and men have to live together and when a child is not a part of the real world at school stages it could be harder to understand how this new world works. every child deserves to be with the other sex its amazing how much they can learn from each other and to me that's chance we shouldn't waste.
I was doing some research and found an article at Semana's magazine which claims that there is no difference between boys and girls but keeping them apart can separate genders by reinforcing sexists positions and the idea of men and women having a different kind of intelect.

I think some part of schools that promote interaction between people of the same sex in a school are outdated for today's society, as future professionals we'll have to live every day with men and women.
I studied for three years at a girls' school , and was incredible that when a boy came for anything the girls went crazy and wanted to catch them attention (even once they began to cry because a male college cannot go to an event.)
And in the case of boys; I suppose they could become very shy or even agressive when they're with a woman.
The educational institutions prepare us to live in society , and in a society there are men and women in the same place.

i think mixed school are overestimated because they think that only studying in a mixed school you can learn how to feel comfortable with the other sex, but that is a big lie because there are so many different spaces to talk with people of the other sex, and in mixed school there are, as in a sigle sex school, people with the ability to relacionate with the other sex and people without it.
In education it's exactly the same thing, your aptness to learn is not defined by the people that surrounds you. but, i accept that there are some special cases, like everything in life, of pleople that can feel more comfortable between same sex people but that is maybe a self steem problem.
